Allergy Immunization
Precision Pediatric Allergy Care

Allergies are rarely as simple as
a strict “Yes” or “No.”
At Tuntun Pediatrics, we don’t just look for a positive or negative result. We comprehensively analyze your child’s specific symptoms alongside their test data to identify their exact allergy type and reaction patterns. This allows us to build a highly precise, individualized treatment strategy.
Why is Every Child’s Allergy
Different?
Even with the exact same cough or runny nose, the underlying mechanism driving the allergic reaction can vary drastically from child to child. Clinically, allergies can present in several different ways. Recognizing these distinctions is the foundation of precision allergy care.
- When the exact allergen (cause) is clearly identified.
- When symptoms are present, but tests do not reveal a specific trigger.
- When an allergic response is confirmed, but pinpointing a single cause is difficult.

Precision Evaluation by Allergy Type
Children experiencing allergic symptoms are evaluated based on their clinical presentation and test results. By accurately categorizing the allergy type, we avoid unnecessary testing and treatments, ensuring we set the right direction for your child’s care.
Extrinsic Allergic Patterns
Blood tests identify specific allergens. Treatment and management are directly targeted at these known triggers.
Intrinsic Allergic Patterns
Allergic symptoms are clear, but blood tests do not reveal a specific trigger. We focus our evaluation on the child’s immune response patterns and symptom progression.
Mixed/Intermediate Allergic Patterns
Markers of an allergic reaction are observed, but a specific allergen cannot be definitively pinpointed. We consider symptom changes alongside additional clinical indicators.
Guide to Precision Pediatric Allergy Testing

Allergy testing isn’t just an automatic green light to start medication.
Rather, it is a systematic, step-by-step evaluation designed to accurately assess the cause and severity of the allergic reaction, taking into account your child’s daily environment and unique symptoms.
We do not apply a “one-size-fits-all” panel. We selectively perform only the tests your child truly needs based on their presentation and initial findings.
How We Approach
Allergy Testing
Our Step-by-Step Testing Principles
- Symptom and medical history assessments always come first.
- We never perform unnecessary tests.
- Test results are interpreted comprehensively, always in the context of the child’s actual symptoms.

The Allergy Testing Process
Here is how we evaluate your child:
STEP 01. Symptom & Medical History Assessment
We look at symptoms like rhinitis, coughing, or skin flare-ups alongside the timing of the reactions, the home environment, and family history to determine if allergy testing is truly necessary.
If the likelihood of allergies is low:
→ We observe and monitor without additional testing.
If an allergic condition is suspected:
→ We proceed to the initial precision allergy evaluation.
STEP 02. Initial Precision Evaluation via Blood Testing
Blood tests help confirm the presence of an allergic reaction and check the immune system’s response against major allergens.
If no allergic reaction is confirmed:
→ We monitor the progression based on symptoms.
If a reaction to specific allergens is confirmed:
→ We determine a comprehensive plan for treatment and management.
Precision Evaluation for Allergic Asthma
Sometimes, it’s difficult to tell from symptoms alone whether an allergic reaction is driving rhinitis, asthma, or another condition entirely. In these cases, an Allergic Asthma Evaluation helps determine if there is allergic inflammation present within the airways.
This assessment serves as a crucial reference for diagnosing allergic asthma and deciding the necessary intensity and direction of treatment.

If allergic airway inflammation is present:
→ Indicator levels tend to be elevated.

If caused by simple irritants (dust, temporary environmental triggers): → Indicator levels generally remain stable without significant spikes.
※ Results are comprehensively interpreted alongside the child’s age, symptoms, and other clinical data.
Test results serve as a ‘tool to determine treatment.‘
Test Results Are
Tools for Guiding Treatment
Allergy testing isn’t just about stamping a diagnosis on your child. It is an insightful process designed to help us understand your child’s unique allergy profile and determine the best path forward.
- 1 We never base treatment decisions on test numbers alone.
- 2 We weigh symptoms, test values, and lifestyle factors together.
- 3 Treatment is introduced gradually, and only when medically necessary.
Our Approach to
Allergy Treatment
Allergy treatment varies depending on the specific type of allergy and the level of inflammation. We don’t use a “cookie-cutter” approach; we provide exactly the care your child needs.
- When the focus should be on symptom management.
- When allergen avoidance and environmental control take priority.
- When targeted immunotherapy for specific allergens is beneficial.

Important Notes for Parents
A Message
to Parents
- Allergic conditions can change over time and often evolve as your child grows.
- Depending on the test results, sometimes “watchful waiting” without medication is the best approach. If needed, we will re-evaluate after a certain period to adjust the care plan.
- At Tuntun Pediatrics, our precision allergy care looks beyond today’s test results—we focus on your child’s current well-being and their long-term health trajectory.
