Precision Pediatric EEG Evaluations

An EEG (electroencephalogram) is not used to make a split-second diagnosis
or to rush into treatment. Instead, it is a careful, measured step to determine if further evaluation of your child’s brain function is necessary, based entirely on their everyday symptoms and clinical history.
The exact testing method and procedure are individually tailored to your child’s age and specific condition.
Our Approach to
Pediatric EEG Testing
- We carefully assess whether an EEG is necessary based on clinical symptoms.
- We tailor the testing method to suit your child’s age and ability to cooperate.
- We comprehensively interpret all test results in the context of your child’s everyday symptoms.

The Evaluation Process
Here is what you and your child can expect.
STEP 01. Determining the Need for an EEG
We first assess whether a functional evaluation of the brain is necessary by looking for the following symptoms:
Suspected seizures or convulsions
Frequent spacing out, staring spells, or lapses in consciousness
Unexplained behavioral changes or
abnormal movements
Recurring headaches, dizziness, or
unusual sleep behaviors
We only recommend an EEG when it is absolutely necessary, based on a comprehensive review of your child’s symptoms and physical examination.
STEP 02. Precision EEG Testing
An EEG records the brain’s electrical activity using small, painless sensors attached to the scalp. At Tuntun Pediatrics, we utilize multi-channel EEG recordings to get a highly precise, comprehensive overview of your child’s brain function. We carefully evaluate:
Brainwave symmetry and any abnormal wave patterns
Potential indicators of seizure activity
How the readings compare to normal baseline development for your child’s age
We never base our conclusions on a single number or isolated waveform.
STEP 03. Sleep EEG (When Necessary)
Because it can be difficult for young children to lie completely still for the duration of the test, we may conduct the EEG while they are asleep if needed.
Minimizes movement for a much more accurate reading
Reduces anxiety and test-related stress for your child
Performed only when clinically necessary, as determined by our medical team
Any decision to use sleep-inducing measures is made only after a thorough evaluation of your child’s condition and a careful consultation with parents.
How We Interpret
the Results
A pediatric EEG evaluation is never judged by a single wave pattern or isolated finding. We look at the big picture, comprehensively combining the following factors:
- 1 Your child’s specific symptoms and how they present
- 2 The characteristics and distribution of the brainwave patterns
- 3 The state of the child during the test (awake or asleep)
- 4 Normal developmental baselines for your child’s exact age
Next Steps:
Post-Test Care Plan
The results of the EEG are always discussed in the context of your child’s ongoing symptoms and clinical history.
No clear abnormalities detected
→ Monitor and observe
Further evaluation needed
→ Consider additional neurological assessments or a follow-up EEG
Treatment required
→ Develop a tailored treatment plan after a detailed discussion with parents

A Note to
Parents
- A pediatric EEG is just one piece of the puzzle—we never draw final conclusions from a single test result alone.
- Depending on the findings, your child may simply need observation without medical treatment. If necessary, we will schedule a reassessment after a certain period to monitor any changes in your child’s condition.
- At Tuntun Pediatrics, your child’s safety and diagnostic accuracy are our top priorities. We are strictly committed to careful, precise evaluations without unnecessary testing or overdiagnosis.
